Summer in Newport! It's finally Summer in Newport! Everything has been blooming early with just the right mix of sunshine and evening rain. The hanging baskets, statuaries and window boxes are bursting with scent and color. The front garden filled with wild flowers are about to bloom while the formal and cutting gardens in the back have something new blossoming every day. The website has a package including sparkling wine upon arrival, lunch on the Terrace of the Spiced Pear-the restaurant of our sister property The Chanler at Cliff Walk-located looking over the Atlantic-soft sea breezes and outstanding cuisine! Followed by a sail on Adirondack or Sightsailor down on the harbor where the captain and crew have many stories to share about the infamous people who live or lived along the coastline (this package is for a 2 night stay only). The kitchen at La Farge Perry House has news too. We are presently doing a daily menu featuring some of your favorites-and a few new ones too! Sumptuous bowls of fresh fruit and my blend of granola, scones, muffins or pastries will get you started for the day. Refreshments and coconut chocolate chip macaroons will round out your afternoon. I can advise you on any restaurant in town as I write a food column for the local paper. Spend the day at the beach, hike the Cliff Walk, visit the "summer cottages", bike ride the picturesque Ocean Drive and shop 'til you drop. Enjoy New England's finest "chowdah", fresh caught lobster and sit "al fresco" followed by dancing or listening to jazz under the sun or stars. Have I tempted you yet?
