April/May, 2008 Dear Friends of La Farge Perry House, It’s spring! We’ve cleared the flower beds and there are shoots of over 400 tulips, daffodils and hyacinths popping up everywhere. All rooms have a spring bouquet bedside and if you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or engagement a bottle of sparkling wine can welcome you to the inn. Spring is the quintessential time to visit Newport as all the mansions are open as of April 5, 2008. We have an exciting weekday special for those who want to tour the Breakers plus one other mansion-my favorite being the Elms as its meticulous gardens are breath-taking in spring and summer. Our many shops are geared for the new season. We are a close walk to downtown Brick Alley and the wharf area or the splendid shops that line Bellevue Avenue. In particular “House” on Mill Street will give you a 10% discount by mentioning La Farge Perry House-their new inventory has the panache of a Manhattan boutique with distinctive gifts to take home. With our sister property, The Chanler at Cliff Walk, situated at the beginning of the historic Cliff Walk a brisk walk along it panoramic paths will work up an appetite making the Spiced Pear — their signature restaurant — a natural for lunch. Enjoy its dramatic seascape and superb cuisine. Be treated to a free dessert by showing your room key. The bar offers 25 cent martinis through May 31st and you can’t beat that! The aesthetic of pampering our guests is our signature. Consider a massage in your room.
