The library was established before the United States was officially its own country. It is currently the country's oldest lending library and first lending library building.
Newport Art Museum
The mission of the Newport Art Museum is to inspire passions for the arts in diverse audiences. The museum was founded in 1912 and has become one of only 6% of American museums to become fully accredited by the American Association of Museums.
Jane Pickens Theater
Located in Washington Square in Newport, the Jane Pickens Theater is a world-class art house cinema. It is housed in a historic building built in 1834 as a church and has been showing films since the silent film era.

Open year round and located only within a 10 minute walk from La Farge Perry House, the International Tennis Hall of Fame & Museum honors numerous Tennis legends while also displaying a truly one-of-a-kind collection of Tennis memorabilia. Walk the grounds where you will find luscious green courts that play host to the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships every summer.
Audrain Automobile Museum
Comprised of over 160 of the rarest and most remarkable vehicles in history, the Audrain Automobile Museum makes for the perfect afternoon trip while in Newport. Located on the same block as the International Tennis Hall of Fame, the museum is easily accessible from La Farge Perry House. With a fresh selection of cars displayed according to the changing themes of the museum, guests are left with never having the same experience.
Oliver hazard perry tall ship
The SSV Oliver Hazard Perry is the largest civilian Sailing School Vessel in the United States. It is also the first ocean-going, fully-rigged ship to be built in the United States in over 100 years. We feel a special connection to the ship because of our own personal connection to Oliver Perry. Fully embrace the story of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry.
The first synagogue in the United States was built in Newport, RI. This was no accident as Newport was a safe haven for those who fled religious persecution elsewhere. The synagogue remains an active place of worship and hosts thousands of visitors each year.
