The Beaches

There are several soft-sand beaches to choose from in Newport. Each beach also has parking available. During the summer, beach parking ranges from $10-$20.

Easton's Beach (1st Beach)

Approximately 1 mile away, Easton's Beach is the closest beach to La Farge Perry House. Featuring surfing, seasonal lifeguards, a carousel, an aquarium, snack bar, and lobster rolls, many visitors to Newport enjoy the long stretch of ocean and white sand. Guests of La Farge Perry House may park complimentary at our sister property, The Chanler, which is adjacent to Easton's Beach.

Sachuest Beach (2nd Beach)

Just as popular as Easton's Beach, this quieter beach has a concession stand, several surfers, and usually a Del's Lemonade truck at the Western end of the beach. It is approximately 3 miles from La Farge Perry House.

3rd Beach

The quietest of the three beaches, 3rd Beach is set back in a cove, creating calmer water and subtle ocean breezes. It is best to plan on bringing snacks, as there are no snack bars available at this beach. It is approximately 4 miles from the inn.

Cliff Walk

One of the top attractions in Newport, this 3.5 mile walk runs along the Atlantic Ocean and behind the gilded age mansions. Most of the Cliff Walk is paved, with some parts being rocky but walkable. There are several access points to enter and exit the walk. It begins at Easton's Beach and The Chanler, where guests of La Farge Perry House may park complimentary to walk it. You may want to walk a portion of it, and exit near The Breakers mansion to take a mansion tour. Morning walks on the Cliff Walk can be the most beautiful and peaceful, as the sun rises over this portion of the Atlantic Ocean.

Ocean Drive

Ocean Drive is exactly as it sounds... a breathtaking drive along the ocean in Newport. With newer mansions that are private homes on one side of the street, and the ocean on the other, it is not to be missed. For those who like some exercise, consider renting a bike and ride along this breezy, relatively flat drive.
